What’s Going To Stop Me

The problem-solving skills that define us as entrepreneurs empowers us to not only succeed in business but to succeed in life.

I received a great quote today in my email that read

“A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.” ~ Franklin D Roosevelt

Isn’t that the truth?

It’s funny how our (mine & Tom’s) work rate has not decreased in the past few weeks. Our workflow may have had to be adjusted i.e. more planning, finding alternative ways to source profitable books etc but we didn’t have any additional time off.

As we worked away in our home office, major blessing by the way, I was sometimes a little envious of our neighbours sitting outside sunbathing & having BBQ’s with time off but then I remembered why we’re doing this.

Building and refining our Book Arb business over time will allow us to sit outside & sunbathe for a lot longer than just a few weeks with the added bonus of financial security.

This is not to imply we’re better than any of our neighbours. We are just fortunate to have such a wonderful opportunity to create & to build wealth for our present & our future.

Where else in the world is it possible to create wealth starting with just $5 investments (books) & to roll it over many times in one year to create thousands of percent ROI?
To leverage a proven system from home that is highly automated, systematic in a rinse & repeat way?

That comes with a world class support system built in & twice weekly live question & answer calls? With an email support team that are successfully doing the same business independently themselves & offering expert advice & support?

I don’t know about you, but I really appreciate where we are & the jackpot we have hit with this system & community.

If there weren’t a few waves along the way, then we wouldn’t have the opportunity to enjoy the inevitable momentum that comes with riding those same waves. Those are exhilarating!

The problem-solving skills that define us as entrepreneurs empowers us to not only succeed in business but to succeed in life. Those skills spill over into our every day lives.
In other words, a win here is a win everywhere in our lives. Try that on for size.

How does it feel to have a win everywhere in your life today by showing up in your business?

I was speaking with a friend last week who said something that I thought was brilliant. She is currently entering into a new career & she said, “What’s going to stop me from doing this?” For me that is how success is achieved in one word, it is a decision!

Remember, we are not only looking for smooth seas, as lovely as those are, we are also looking for those challenges that make us flex our muscles which helps us to create more of the life we desire for ourselves.

So today, ask yourself what skill can you develop in your Book Arb biz that will bring you a step closer to living your life your way?

Think about it & then do it. You’ll thank yourself in the long run.

Look Whose Growing..

True success for me is constant growth and having fun along the way. It’s not about grinding it out, it’s about playful creation at it’s core.

“Income seldom exceeds personal development.” ~ Jim Rohn

In order to grow your business you must grow yourself simultaneously alongside it to continue your success.

Your business success cannot exceed your knowledge or your abilities. I mean that just makes sense when you think about it.

You are the driver of the train. If you do not know that there are more miles that you can travel, you will stop at the next station thinking you’ve arrived.

Personal development however, allows you to see your journey ahead from a bird’s eye view & the expanded track beyond the next station before you is obvious.

Additionally, personal development doesn’t just allow you to form a bigger vision & achieve it, it saves you time & money enroute as Brian Tracy suggests

“Personal development is a major time-saver. The better you become, the less time it takes you to achieve your goals.”

So now it’s just not a wishy washy new age concept anymore. It’s a necessary business strategy to ensure we achieve the kind of success that we are capable of.

In book arbitrage beyond the mechanics of day-day buying & selling books which only takes a couple of months to learn really, or it did me at any rate, the most important skill I continue to learn is how to expand where I am now to create more value & more profit.

If I was not continuing on my journey of personal development this would not be possible or achievable.

I would not be asking myself those questions nor would I be comfortable challenging myself into new places.

True success for me then is constant growth & having fun along the way. It’s not about grinding it out, it’s about playful creation at it’s core.

We are inherently creative beings & coming from this place means we are open & playful & that’s how seemingly magical opportunities show up. Now that’s a hoot!

It’s never been as easy as it is today to listen to & read about success. It has become part of mainstream culture & is everywhere.

It could be a good idea then to listen to 10-15 minutes of inspirational material every day before listening to your favourite hits on your phone.

This one small change in your habit could ensure constant forward motion & this is how success is won – one piece at a time.

Next, I will discuss the importance of asking for help when you need it & how to do it….

Compounding Money

If you think of a business expanding 8 fold in 7 months in its first year of business it’s pretty unbelievable and it is growing because we are rolling all our profits back in. The bigger the inventory the greater the speed of expansion and the more powerful effect of compounding.

“The smallest good act today is the capture of a strategic point from which, a few months later, you may be able to go on to victories you never dreamed of.”   ~ C.S. Lewis

At the time of my writing this blog we are over half way through our current peak season for textbooks. As I have stated before, textbooks sell all year round it’s just that there are 2 big bumper seasons (January & August) and one mini one (May) as well. It’s like Christmas comes three times a year in terms of a sales boost which is pretty awesome.2018 08 30th Sales Screenshot

As you can see creating over $2,000 a week is a substantial boost in profits and that figure will only continue to rise.

For our first textbook season we had an inventory of 54 books and sold 22, so nearly half our inventory. Roll on 7 months later and we have an inventory of 400 books which is almost 8 times the number of books we had in January and we are making weekly sales of $2,000 and more. Remember too that we have been selling books nearly every day in between.

If you think of a business expanding 8 fold in 7 months in its first year of business it’s pretty unbelievable and it is growing because we are rolling all our profits back in. The bigger the inventory the greater the speed of expansion and the more powerful effect of compounding.

If we were to open any well known franchise for any other kind of business we would never have been able to begin with just $1,000 and create this level of success (one of our community members started with $100 in the pot and has grown that into a multiple 5 figure business in 18 months or less). Not to mention we don’t have to deal with the hassles that come with running that kind of operation (franchise) with employees, insurance etc.

So, we are growing our own business that we can do from anywhere in the world. Our business is growing in a predictable and powerful way. We are continuously honing our  skills for working smarter and not harder. We are becoming wealthier.

Our money works for us all day every day. The boost we get from sales in textbook season further accelerates our book buying power and therefore book profits so by the next peak season we will be hitting even juicier numbers. What’s not to love?

Next, I will share the value of great customer service and how that adds to our bottom line personally and professionally.
